Windies Give Pak A Taste Of Their Own Medicine
Pakistan got a taste of their own medicine as they were humbled by a determined West Indies side on a treacherous turning pitch at Multan. The margin of victory of 120 runs was telling and a reflection of Pakistan’s utterly poor batting performance.
Spin Friendly Underpepared Pitches
After Pakistan lost the home series to Bangladesh and the first test against England, they looked to spin and prepared pitches that were more underpepared than prepared. They bulldozed England with Noman Ali and Sajid Khan claiming 39 wickets out of 40 in two test matches and won the series 2-1.
Windies Lose First Test…
As West Indies visited Pakistan, the visitors yet again adopted the same strategy and knocked over West Indies in the first test by 127 runs in 3 days. As the second test ensued, the talk was for how long would an inexperienced Windies line up would last. However, the young West Indian team turned the tables on Pakistan instead and beat them comprehensively at their own game.
…But Stage A Strong Come Back In The Second…
West Indies lower order of Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach and Jomel Warrican batted with great intent and from a precarious 54/8 the trio fought hard and reached a respectable 163 on that pitch in the first innings. In reply Pakistan fell 9 runs short after Roach, Motie and Warrican produced fine spells to knock over Pakistan cheaply.
Beat Pak By 120 Runs
West Indies in the second foray again batted with lot of determination to get to 244 and gave a target of 254 for Pakistan to chase. Motie, Sinclair and Jomel Warrican proved too good for Pakistan. Warrican in particular bowled his slow left armers to perfection on a rapidly wearing track. Poor technique from Pakistan resulted in their downfall and they succumbed to the West Indian pressure for just 133 giving the Windies a mammoth 120 run victory, their first in 34 years on Pakistan soil.
Pakistan Batting Fully Exposed
The debacle once again exposed the Pakistan batting which had been struggling with pace and now had come up short against spin too. The loss ended the WTC matches for Pakistan where they ended up at the bottom of the table.
West Indies – No Pushovers
For West Indies they keep on springing a surprise and yet again proved that cricket very much exists in the Caribbean and that they can keep winning overseas as well.
Jomel Warrican, for his brilliant bowling was awarded the player of the match and the series.
