This is Ayyoub Bouaddi, signed by Manchester City for a five-year contract till June 30 2031, for a massive €95m with performance add-ons pushing the deal to €100m. LOSC bargained hard to let go of their protege and, in my view, made a killing out of it.

The World Cup group stage match between Brazil and Morocco was the first occasion I had a glimpse of Ayyoub Bouaddi. The young midfielder was rock solid. Controlled the midfield superbly. He was quick to gauge and anticipate the movement of the ball from Brazil and played a great role in restricting their movements and forward transgressions. No wonder Brazil struggled in that match, and though the game ended in a 1-1 draw, Morocco had earned a moral victory.

That performance from Ayyoub Bouaddi made his credentials soar. He caught the eye of the world, and by the time the World Cup ended, Manchester City had already raised interest in the young Moroccan.
