Unbeaten Umar Loses in Front of Khabib
Khabib Nurmagomedov watched from the sidelines as Chinese Song Yadong brought down Khabib’s cousin Umar in a second-round knockout in the Bantamweight category at UFC Shanghai last night.
A Fight To Remember In Shanghai
The Fight, held at the SPD Bank Oriental Sports Centre in Shanghai, was an astonishing one as the undefeated Umar was unable to counter Yadong’s unbridled resilience.
Yadong Survives & Then Punishes Umar
The challenger from China grappled with some enormous pressure in the first round and in the second round too showed great defence to counter Umar’s aggressive posture. However, a powerful uppercut right on Umar’s jaw created the opening for Yadong. With Umar on the ground, Yadong pounded him with hammer fists to seal the KO. It was a big upset as Umar was expected to win and maintain his unbeaten record. Song Yadong was over the moon.
Khabib Restrains A Fiery Usman
There were some interesting cageside reactions too. Khabib Nurmagomedov was in Umar’s corner for the fight. Following the stoppage, Khabib had to physically restrain a visibly upset Umar’s brother, Bellator champion Usman Nurmagomedov, from attempting to jump into the cage.
Yadong in sight of the UFC Title.
The win puts Song Yadong in contention for the 135 lb Bantamweight Title, with the UFC to announce his next fight in the coming months.
