My Native Place

Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?

Lucknow, the city where I was born and reside is my favourite City. However, I have travelled a fair bit in India which has fabulous places from Nanital in the north, to Alleppey ( Alappuzha) in the South, goa in the west to  Darjeeling and Gangtok in the north east. Jaipur, Udaipur,Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are beautiful places in Rajasthan which I have always admired.

Internationally Berlin is the place which I long to visit again some day. The city is beautiful, well organised, has a lovely calmness to it, and I love the weather too.

But then, my heart is always inclined to visit my native place, the land of my forefathers, Faizabad (Ayodhya). My grandfather’s huge house with lots of space to play is affixed with my childhood memories. The vibes of the place, the bustling markets, the peaceful coexistence of all communities, mahaveer ki tikki ( a local delicacy ), the serenity of Guptar Ghat, the richness of Gulab Badi and the selfless affection in the air, just give me so much peace. A mere mention of faizabad makes me happy.

I have never lost the zeal to visit Faizabad and every visit is as fresh as the fragrance of the land of my forefathers.

What a place.
