If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?
It is not one historical figure that I wish to meet. There are a few and my list is as follows.
Mahatma Gandhi : The architect of India’s independence. A simple, frail, unassuming man who worked tirelessly, non-violently, but stubbornly, to bring a mighty colonial power to its knees. A rare individual indeed. A true legend. Just incredible.
Nelson Mandela : A true fighter against apartheid. Spent 26 long years in confinement and in the end ensured justice for mankind. He brought a nation together to script a new future for South Africans. His bravery and perseverance are legendary. Just incredible.
Martin Luther King Jr : A messiah for the underprivileged. A torch bearer of the fight against racism. He ensured equal rights for all races and came up with one of the greatest speeches of all times ‘ I have a dream…’. Just incredible.
JFK : One of the most popular of American Presidents. A nation cried when he died. Though I haven’t read much about him, his reputation stretched far and wide. He was the youngest elected US President and even won a Pulitzer prize for his book ‘ Profiles in Courage ‘. Just incredible.
The above are few of the prominent names I wish to meet. There are others too, but the list will get too long.
