I am tired of Novak Djokovic

Novak beats Auger-Aliassime
Djokovic Outlasts Auger-Aliassime

All of 39, Novak Djokovic, outlasted Felix Auger-Aliassime, 15 years his junior, in a 5 hr 15 minute marathon battle on the Centre Court, in the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon Championship.

An Incredible Score Card

The match was the longest quarter-final ever played at Wimbledon. The score card in favour of Djokovic read 7-6 (12-10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7(4-7), 7-6(10-4), a great testament to the resilience of the man, his skill, unwavering temperament and an incredible zeal to win. Auger-Aliassime had everything to play for, but fell short somewhere.

Auger-Aliassime’s Second Serve Let Him Down

The Stats do give indications. Though Auger-Aliassime out-shot the great Serbian by far in the Aces department ( 29 to 14 ), his winning percentage on his second serve was a meagre 47 per cent against 73 for Djokovic. This particular statistic actually tilted the balance of the game in Novak’s favour. The Canadian was always under pressure to save his serve ( Djokovic had 13 break points against the Canadian), and even though the match went to 5 sets, Novak was never playing catch up.

Novak’s Unwavering Temperament & Experience Helped Him Sail Through

The Canadian’s dogged resistance took the match to 5 sets, but Novak held his nerve as usual, played some delightful rallies, and was eventually much better on the points which mattered. He pulled his entire experience on grass courts and came through.

The Serb Had Given All He Had To Extend His Winning Tally to 107 Games

Novak could barely walk after the long gruelling battle, no wonder he had utilised every iota of his energy to beat his opponent and make yet another semi-final, extending his record to 107 wins at Wimbledon.

I Am Tired Of Him, But Novak Is In No Mood To Stop

The Serbian has been around for more than two decades now and has won everything possible for a tennis professional. But he keeps going in an unrelenting manner. People are tired of seeing him play and play, but the GOAT is not getting tired anytime soon.

Will Play Sinner Next

Novak Djokovic will play Jannik Sinner, the world no. 1 and defending champion, whom he beat in the semi-finals of the Australian Open this year.

Watch out, Sinner!!
