NZ Defy Valiant Pant, Beat India, Script History

Kiwis defeat India in India

NZ Script History

The Black Caps summed up an incredible tour of India by becoming the first cricketing nation to inflict a whitewash on India in India after their 25 runs victory in Mumbai. The hosts just could not get the measure of the Kiwis and were well and truly outplayed in all departments, on 3 different surfaces in all three test matches.

Self Believing Kiwis Topple India

The Kiwis batted with great application against India’s tallest bowlers, be it pace or spin. They were just much more focussed and determined and on most occasions did not give their wicket away. They bowled disciplined lines and stayed patient to get the desired results. Success fuelled their confidence and strengthened their belief that they could topple India on home soil. Will Young batted brilliantly in the Mumbai Test and overall was their best batter alongwith Rachin Ravindra who was instrumental in their victory in Bengaluru. The quick bowlers outshone the Indians on a good track in Bengaluru. Mitch Santner was exceptional in Pune and the Indians had no answers to Ajaz Patel’s relentless line and length in Mumbai. The Black Caps were just phenomenal.

Pant Shines But Seniors Disappoint

The extraordinary Rishabh Pant notched up his second fifty of the match and had he survived the DRS, the result could have been different. India’s 6th consecutive batting  collapse in the series was inexplicable. Not many to get, two decent partnerships would have done the job, but that was not to be. Rohit Sharma ( just 91 runs in 6 innings ) and Virat Kohli ( just 93 runs in 6 innings ) had a forgetful series, where none of the senior batters could bail India out.

India’s Technical Flaws

The Indian Team has looked jittery against good spin bowling, which showed clearly in the series. With domestic matches being played more and more on green tops and pacy decks to counter overseas conditions, our batters have become susceptible to spinning tracks. Their problem with good spin bowling was glaringly exposed. Lots of questions will be asked of our players’ technical flaws and even their grit and determination.

WTC Final In A Tight Spot

The 3-0 loss has put India in a tight spot vis a vis their qualification for the WTC Final next year and the Team would be required to put in a terrific performance against the Australians down under.

Rattled India, Joyous Kiwis

While the Indians are rattled, the Kiwis would be celebrating. They have thrown their Hat in the WTC ring and have made things interesting. This win would rank amongst their very best and would give them great joy.
