I came across a very thought provoking video of how plants actually reacted to varying human emotions and how sensitive they were to words spoken to them. If the findings of the experiment in the video is anything to go by, then there is immense learning which can be drawn from this experiment and applied in our lives.
The Experiment
Three seeds were sowed in an identical environment, the difference being the verbal treatment each one of the seeds received. Surprising as it may seem, one seed was spoken good, encouraging, motivating and happy words, while one was subjected to harsh and disparaging verbal treatment. The third seed was given a normal controlled ambience .
Staggering Results
The results were even more staggering. The seed which received the best treatment in terms of verbal communication developed the most. The one on which negative verbal volleys were thrown just didn’t take off at all, and the third seed grew as it were in a normal environment.
Application in Real Life
If plants can be so sensitive to human emotions than one can imagine what would be the implications on a human body, which can observe, listen, think, feel and emote, to the type of treatment they get from the environment. There is no doubt, that negative emotions and verbal dressing downs are more harmful than useful. They might work in the short run but the damage which they do are much more prolonged and definite.
Encouragement, motivation, appreciation both verbal and otherwise are imperative for an individual to grow, perform and consistently improve, similar to the seed which outgrew the other two seeds.
This experiment for me is a simple template when it comes to man management and handling human beings.
Do have a look at the video.

Riz Khan has enlightened us with the recent discovery that plants like human beings are susceptible to ‘feelings’ and can react positively or otherwise to ’emotions’ like human beings. One can draw analogies and indeed lessons from the experiments and research on plants for motivating people (human beings) to succeed and excel in whatever they are doing in their career and life.
A very interesting and educative post.Let’s look forward to more research and astonishing discoveries in this field !
