The Golden Globe

The 80th Golden Globe Awards shall be remembered in our country for a massive historical moment. With stalwarts and leading artists like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga in the fray for the coveted Best Original Song, our homegrown ‘Naatu Naatu’ from SS Rajamouli’s period drama RRR, stumped the star studded field and bagged the glory, making history in its wake.

Kaatu Kaatu : A Match Winner

The song ( when I heard and saw for the first time ) felt    loaded with unparalleled energy and vitality both in the music as well as in its choreography . It was hugely compelling to say the least, an energised version of Flamenco may be and I simply wondered what would have happened to the legs of  those performing  the song. They would have gone mighty sore for sure. The screen presence of Jr NTR and Ram Charan  was full of vigorous vibrancy and lent tremendous credence to the song. MM Keeravani ( known as MM Kreem, in the Hindi film industry), the composer of Naatu Naatu  also has to be applauded for rendering such an immaculate match winner.

Hard Canvassing Yields Results

It has been said that the  making of the Naatu song was an extremely painstaking affair involving endless sessions of rehearsals and shoots before the final version was perfected. The RRR team also  canvassed the film and the song with great intensity at the Golden  Globes to get the message through. They did not leave any stone unturned to present and market the film showcasing its strengths. The effort has yielded sterling results.

South Indian Film Industry : A Triumphant Story

Kudos to the South Indian Film Industry for making the country proud. They have been on a high particularly for the past few years, with their films raking in the blockbusters across the country. Their Hindi dubbed versions have found tremendous acceptability and have generated massive numbers. Their content was never in question as South Indian films have always won critical acclaim, but the surge in the number of blockbusters from them has been unprecedented. SS Rajamouli should get lots of credit for this. His Bahubali flicks started a trend of such unbridled success that it shows no signs of bucking in the near future. With hits after hits from KGF to Pushpa, Kantara and the epic RRR, the list is getting endless .

The quality  of production, powerful content, slick direction  and hardworking actors have together developed a thoroughly successful winning concoction. They also enjoy an unrelenting public support. The loyalty from both sides, the audience as well as the industry is colossal, which has actually manifested into this deep rooted triumph of South Indian cinema.

With the Golden Globe conquered, its time for the  Oscars.

Go… RRR !!!
