Sekiro: No Defeat is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 as an eight-episode television anime. The production team has not announced an exact premiere date or a confirmed weekly broadcast schedule. The project originally began as an eight-episode series. However, the team later decided to release an edited version in Japanese cinemas first, allowing audiences to experience its animation and sound on the big screen. What Is Sekiro: No Defeat About?

The story takes place during Japan’s Sengoku period, when rival powers fight for control of the country. At the centre of the conflict lies Ashina, a region threatened by powerful enemies seeking to exploit its extraordinary secrets. The protagonist, known as Wolf or Sekiro, is a highly trained shinobi who was raised by the warrior Owl. His duty is to protect Kuro, a young lord who possesses a mysterious inheritance known as the Dragon’s Heritage.

Kuro’s blood grants the power of immortality, making him a valuable target for those who want to use that ability for their own purposes. When Ashina’s warriors attempt to capture the boy, Wolf must fight to protect his master and fulfil his obligations as a shinobi. However, immortality comes with a terrible consequence. As Wolf and Kuro attempt to escape their pursuers, they discover that the power of the Dragon’s Heritage is connected to a deadly illness known as Dragonrot. Kuro eventually decides that ending the cycle of immortality may require the ultimate sacrifice. Wolf, unwilling to accept his master’s fate, embarks on a dangerous journey to change it.
