Gachiakuta is a dark fantasy anime set in a world built on discarded things. It follows a young man cast out of a floating city into a wasteland of trash. Here is what to know about its story, characters, release and Season 2.
What Is the Story About?
Rudo Surebrec is falsely accused of a crime and thrown from the Sphere, a city above, into the Pit below. He wakes in an endless landscape of trash and is attacked by monstrous creatures made of garbage. A man named Enjin rescues him and awakens his power as a Giver, someone who can use “Vital Instruments,” objects that hold spirit-like energy.
The Dark Fantasy World
The setting is the series’ strongest hook. The Sphere throws away both objects and people, and the Pit is where everything unwanted ends up. Creator Kei Urana’s manga draws on personal experience, and its graffiti-inspired look makes the anime stand out from other shonen series.
Main Characters
- Rudo Surebrec, the protagonist, driven by anger at the system that discarded him.
- Enjin, a Cleaner who recruits Rudo into the team.
- Riyo and Zanka, fellow Cleaners who fight trash beasts alongside him.
