When Is Chainsaw Man Season 2 Coming Out? Assassins Arc Status Explained

The Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc is confirmed, but there is still no release date. Here is the latest Season 2 status, MAPPA update, and release information.

As of October 8, 2026, Chainsaw Man Season 2 still has no confirmed release date or release window. The next anime project, officially titled Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc, is confirmed to be in production, but MAPPA has not announced when it will premiere or how it will be released. The Assassins Arc was first announced at Jump Festa 2026 in December 2025 as a continuation of Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc. MAPPA then revealed a new teaser trailer during its 15th-anniversary presentation on June 19, 2026, showing more of the characters and assassins targeting Denji.

Is Chainsaw Man Season 2 Confirmed?

Yes, the next anime adaptation is confirmed, although the official project is being promoted as the Assassins Arc rather than simply “Season 2.” MAPPA is producing the project, with Tatsuya Yoshihara confirmed as director. Hiroshi Seko returns as series scriptwriter, while Kazutaka Sugiyama handles character design and Kensuke Ushio continues as composer. The main voice cast also remains attached to the project. What remains unknown is the premiere date. There is currently no officially announced release year, season, month, or episode count.

Does the Assassins Arc Have a Release Date?

No. As of October 8, MAPPA has provided new footage but has not announced when the Assassins Arc will premiere. That makes claims about a specific October 2026 release date unreliable. An October 15 premiere has circulated online, but there is no official announcement supporting that date. Fans should therefore separate the confirmed production announcement and teaser from unofficial release-date claims.

Is Assassins Arc a Television Season or Movie?

The official website currently identifies Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc as an anime project, but its exact release format has not been clearly announced. This is important because the franchise’s most recent major anime release was Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc. The Reze Arc was released as a theatrical film in 2025, while the Assassins Arc was announced as its continuation. Until MAPPA confirms the format, it is safer not to describe Assassins Arc as a conventional television season.

What Comes After the Reze Arc Movie?

The Assassins Arc is the next confirmed part of the anime adaptation. The project follows the story after the events adapted in the Reze Arc and introduces the international group of assassins pursuing Denji. The June 2026 teaser specifically showed multiple new characters alongside the threat surrounding Denji. That gives fans a clear idea of what the next adaptation will cover, even though the production team has yet to reveal its release schedule.

When Could Chainsaw Man Season 2 Be Announced?

There is currently no confirmed date for the next major announcement. MAPPA has already provided more information than it had at the original production announcement, including a second teaser and confirmed staff. A release announcement could arrive during a future anime event, but that remains speculation. For now, the safest update is simple: Assassins Arc is confirmed and in production; MAPPA is producing it, but there is no confirmed release date or format.
