West Indies will be visiting India for a 2-Test Series starting from the 2nd of October 2025. The first Test match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, while the second Test match is scheduled to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from the 10th of October.
A few days ago, the West Indies announced their squad, led by Roston Chase, their all-rounder, and coached by Darren Sammy.
The Team looks a decent bowling side with Jaydon Seales, Shamar Joseph, Alzarri Joseph and Anderson Phillip making up a lethal combination of pace and seam. The spin department, which may turn out to be a critical factor in India, would be led by the left-armer Jomel Warrican and supported by the skipper Roston Chase himself with his off-spinners.
Khary Pierre, the 34-year-old left-arm spinner, has been drafted to strengthen the Windies’ spin attack. Taking a holistic view, the West Indies have a testing bowling attack, which India needs to be careful of.
The trouble for the Caribbean outfit lies in its batting woes. A lot rests on Shai Hope and Roston Chase, with their veteran opener, Kraigg Brathwaite, having called it quits after playing in his 100th Test against Australia recently.
The rest of the batting unit has not performed well, and with the quality of Indian bowlers to face, an uphill task awaits. In the recent series against Australia at home, West Indies faced a 3-0 rout, and though their bowling got them into good positions, the batting floundered big time.
In the 3rd Test at Sabina Park, with 204 runs required to win in the second innings, West Indies were bundled out for a paltry 27 runs, in one of the most inept batting performances seen in recent times. India will surely fancy its chances, and a 2-0 result in favour of the hosts looks a fairly certain possibility.
