Saudi Grand Prix : A Mesmerizing Spectacle

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit wore a spectacular look as the Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix unfolded on the banks of the Red Sea. The glittering ensemble of super cars, extraordinary drivers, and 50k strong spectator build up was simply mesmerizing.

Max Verstappen With The Advantage

Max Verstappen, the Red Bull winner last year, had taken pole position, beating Oscar Piastri in McLaren in qualifications by the slenderest of margins and had the advantage of leading the field.

Piastri Challenges Verstappen At the Bend

As the clock ticked 8, the engines screamed, and out came Verstappen with Piastri just next to his wheel. The Australian had made a terrific start, but Verstappen slipped ahead at the bend, as he cut the apex at the corner. Tsunoda and Gasly collided at the start and were the early casualties in the race.

Oscar Piastri Wins After A 5-Second Time Penalty For Verstappen

The move by Verstappen at the start did not go unnoticed and the Stewards levied a 5 second time penalty at the pit-stop on the Dutch. Using medium tyres with a one pit-stop strategy, Verstappen suffered due to the penalty as Oscar Piastri took over the lead and drove flawlessly to beat Verstappen by 2.84 seconds, to win the Race.

Lando Norris Clinches 4th While Leclerc Takes Podium

Lando Norris, driving the McLaren, had started 10th on the grid. He drove with hard tyres to stretch his pit-stop duration, and climbed to 4th position ahead of Mercedes’ fellow Brit George Russell and behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Norris gave Leclerc a run for his money, but the Monaco driver held Norris at bay to clinch a podium finish.

Oscar Piastri: The High-Flying Australian

With 3 wins out of 5 races, Oscar Piastri became the first Australian after his Manager Mark Webber to lead the Drivers’ Standings, signalling a tremendous start to the new season. Fellow McLaren compatriot Lando Norris in second place and Max Verstappen in 3rd completed the top three.

All Eyes On Miami

The season has started brilliantly with Piastri having edged ahead, making the Miami Grand Prix on 5th May an exciting contest.
