Liverpool With A Scrappy Win
Liverpool were favourites to beat an underperforming, relegation-bound Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes, however, made it tough for Liverpool and at times even threatened to take away the game. The Reds eventually survived with a scrappy win and moved even closer to the EPL Title.
Unlucky Salah & Brilliant Hermansen
It was an astonishing day. Mo Salah’s strike in the 6th minute hit both the goal posts, but the ball just refused to go in. A few minutes later, Leicester too hit the post. Leicester Goalkeeper Hermansen saved another Salah strike to deny the Egyptian as Liverpool completely dominated proceedings.
Liverpool Get Leicester Fright But Survive
It was difficult to imagine how on earth there were no goals scored by the Reds as the first half concluded, though Leicester did score, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul on Alisson Becker.
Arne Slot Rings In The Changes To Break Deadlock
A concerned Arne Slot triggered the changes as the deadlock continued. Trent Alexander-Arnold arrived on the field, an inspired substitution indeed, which changed the course of the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘s Ripper
In the 76th minute, another Salah strike hit the post in a goalmouth scramble, with the ball deflecting to Alexander-Arnold. The attacking defender unleashed a ripper of a strike, beating Hermansen by sheer power.
Wild Celebrations & A Yellow Card
The ball entered the goal, and Trent Alexander-Arnold celebrated by ripping off his shirt in wild celebrations. It was such an important goal in the context of Liverpool’s march towards the EPL title. The England International was yellow-carded for his behaviour, but he hardly cared. The celebrations continued undeterred.
Liverpool Hold On To Lead & Win
Liverpool held on to the lead for the next 20 minutes stoically to ensure an extremely vital 3 points and a lead of 13 points over second-placed Arsenal with 5 games to go.
The Reds Are Almost At Title Doorstep
Liverpool would be required to win just one more game from the 5 to play to secure the EPL crown. The Reds play Tottenham next Sunday at home at Anfield.
