Wolves Bite Themselves, Lose to Bournemouth

Wolves vs Bournemouth

Match Day 13 in the English Premier League was an eventful day of some brilliant play, some controversies, Liverpool’s critical win, Arsenal’s fine performance, celebrations at Old Trafford, Manchester City’s on going travails etc. However the match that kept me thinking was the one held at The Molineux Stadium between Wolverhampton ( The Wolves ), the hosts  and Bournemouth.

A Struggle For The Wolves This Season

The match at the Molineux may well be a reference point illustration of a team that played to hurt themselves. Wolverhampton have been struggling this season. A team which always had an extremely organised defence ( which I really appreciated ) had been all over the place. Loss after loss, the Wolves were down in the dumps struggling at the bottom of the EPL table. But then they have been a good team and a rejuvenation was always on the cards. It was just a matter of time.

Wolves Play A Forgetful Game at The Molineux

After a string of losses, the Wolves drew with Brighton and Crystal Palace, got the better of Southampton and then ensured a resounding victory over Fulham. They were surely moving out of the relegation zone. The Wolves had  found their their mojo, until they were again pushed back by a forgetful performance against Bournemouth at home.

Jose Sa Loses Cool ,& The Plot

The Wolves defended woefully against Bournemouth. They were casual and careless in an extremely important game for them. They conceded 3 penalties which were definitely avoidable. Jose Sa, Wolverhampton’s goalkeeper had a poor game. He gave away two easily avoidable penalties and was very unsettled under the bar. No wonder he was hounded by the crowd and instead of showing restraint, Jose Sa ended up fighting with a Fan himself.

Wolves Poor  Defence Leads to Three Penalties

Three penalties were given which Justin Kluivert converted with ease for Bournemouth. Milos Kerkez added one from his side to ensure a tally of 4 for Bournemouth.

JS Larsen Shines For Wolves

Jurgen Strand Larsen got two back for Wolves, who played well in patches and held 61% of the possession in the match. Had they been more thoughtful while defending, Wolves would have won the match.

Bournemouth Win

The match ended 4-2 in favour of Bournemouth, who kept their nerves in a high pitched battle. For the Wolves, they managed self infliction.

Wolves Bite Themselves

A resurgence quelled by the Wolves themselves. However they have a chance for a quick redemption when they face a beleaguered Everton late night tomorrow.
