Jannik Sinner Wins In Turin
Turin it was to be for Jannik Sinner to become the first Italian ever to win the ATP Tour Finals. Playing on home soil, Sinner got the better of Taylor Fritz in a close match on Sunday night. It was the repeat of the US Open Final, where Fritz once again could not overcome the dominant Italian. Jannik Sinner not only pocketed the huge prize money but also ended the year as World No.1.

A Brilliant Year For Sinner
An unbelievable year it has been for Jannik Sinner. Winning the Australian Open at the start of the year, getting embroiled in a doping controversy and though he was let off by the regulators for no wrong doing, Sinner for most of the year had to live with this uncomfortable issue, with many doubting his ascendancy in the sport. Though Sinner missed out in Paris and Wimbledon, he came strongly to win the US Open, the Six Kings Tournament in Riyadh and then the ATP Tour Finals. Post Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner has dominated Tennis which reflects his World No.1 ranking. Jannik Sinner alongwith Alcaraz has decisively ended the reign of the legendary Novak Djokovic and forged a new axis of rivalry in Men’s Tennis.
Sinner A Formidable Opponent
Whenever I watch Jannik Sinner play he resembles more and more like the great Ivan Lendl and a fair bit of Novak Djokovic. He is mentally strong, looks fiercely determined and competitive on the court, apparently has no evident weaknesses in his play, has loads of energy, has tremendous court coverage and to top it all, possesses steely self belief. He is not willing to go down easily and is a real fighter. Sinner would be difficult to topple from his perch and it would be interesting to see how his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz unfolds in the years to come. Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and a vastly improved Taylor Fritz would also pose a threat or two to the Italian’s hegemony.

All Joy For The Italian
At the moment it’s all joy for Sinner as he caps a stellar year in Turin. He would be brimming with confidence when he arrives in Melbourne to defend his Australian Open Crown in January next year. I would be watching the Sinner script unfold, for sure.
