A loss to Bournemouth last week was a little setback to Arsenal’s plans of wresting EPL glory from Manchester City this season. It would be fair to say that the Gunners had narrowly missed out last time. Back to the comforts of their home ground ‘ The Emirates Stadium’ in north London, Arsenal hosted Liverpool on Sunday evening in a crucial encounter.

Bukayo Saka, one of the finest young players to have come out of England and a national team regular, had had a patchy start, resulting in obvious criticism. However, he answered with a terrific strike in the 9th minute of the game. The skilled Saka controlled the pass, dribbled a bit to create space, and then shot past the goalkeeper. The Gunners were ahead.
Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk Equalises But Arsenal Press Ahead
A Trent Alexander Arnold corner kick found Virgil van Dijk, who headed home with precise placement to bring Liverpool to level terms. However, in the 43rd minute, Arsenal again went ahead, Merino striking for the Gunners.

Arsenal – Liverpool: A Slugfest Continues
Arsenal kept the pressure on and Liverpool too tried their best to equalize and a slugfest ensued at the Emirates, with the Gunners holding slightly more possession than the Reds.
Brilliant Salah Finishes A Great Move
Liverpool under Arne Slot looks to be more resilient these days and this was exactly on display when in the 81st minute, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah combined brilliantly to find the equaliser. As Nunez hurried with the ball into the box, Salah ran across ( completely unmarked ) from the right to the center, received the pass from Nunez to his right, and struck ever so cleanly with his magical left foot, to put the ball into the net. It was a wonderful goal, embellished with great control, speed, precision, teamwork, and superb finishing.

Liverpool Snatch A Draw
Arsenal did make a few moves in the end, but Liverpool held on to snatch a draw and rescue a point from the game.
Arsenal Rue
Liverpool though relinquished their top position in the EPL table to Manchester City ( just a point behind ), they would be much happier with the draw than the Gunners.
