Santiago Bernabeu & The First El Clasico of the La Liga Season

Real Madrid hosted their sworn opponents, the Catalan giants, Barcelona at their home turf, the iconic Santiago Bernabeu, at Madrid, last night for the first El Clasico of the La Liga 24/25 Season.

A Mouth Watering Contest Was Expected

The Spanish Titans had had a remarkable Champions League performance a few days back. On the back of a Vinicius Jr Hat-trick, Real had outclassed Dortmund 5-2, while a Raphina hat-trick had ensured a famous 4-1 victory for the Catalans.The El Clasico therefore was going to be a mouth watering affair.

Real Madrid Start Well…

Real started brilliantly with Vinicius Jr and Mbappe causing initial headaches for Barcelona, however, once Mbappe started getting sucked into the offside trap consistently, Barcelona began to take the upper hand.

…But Barcelona Pick Up The Pace

The second half saw a determined Barcelona and an extremely cagey Real Madrid. Jude Bellingham playing for Real was hardly visible, while Vinicius Jr was just unable to produce the form which he had so beautifully exhibited against Dortmund. Mbappe too was tired of getting offside. Barcelona just seized the opportunity.

Barcelona Take The El Clasico

Lewandowski, moved seamlessly in the field and scored a brace and missed two sitters aided by teenage Yamal. The Polish veteran should have scored a hat-trick, but he missed. Lamine Yamal, nonchalantly scored from the right flank, making the lovely strike look so easy. The final touches were given by Raphina, as Barcelona romped home 4-0. A real pasting from the Catalans.

Real Completely Outplayed

Real Madrid were completely outplayed and surprisingly did not put up a fight enough. The contest did not live up to its history and hype.

An El Clasico, that never was.
