The Indian Team defied the odds, defied time and defied the weather to beat Bangladesh in the 2nd Test Match at Green Park, Kanpur, by 7 wickets in just 2 days. The incredible victory secured a 2-0 series win for India, strengthening their lead in the World Test Championship cycle.

India’s Unstoppable Self-Belief and Skill Lead to Historic Victory

The victory apart, the way it was brought about was simply rattling. How much impossible it once seemed, the Indian players made it happen. Backing their skill to the hilt, buoyed by a resounding self-belief and an unwavering intent, the Indian Team produced a favourable result. On a pitch which had no demons whatsoever, the bowlers bowled their heart out. They kept the pressure on the Bangladeshi batters, who had little or no respite. Once Bangladesh were bowled out for 233 on the 4th day, the Indian batters put on a show that left hardly any record unbroken when it came to scoring quickly in Test Matches. It was here that the match was made. In just over 34 overs India smashed 285 and then declared scoring at more than 8 runs an over. It was some batting, unprecedented and unseen in Test Matches.

Fearless Batting By Indian Team Shifts Momentum

The fearless and extremely effective performance of the Indian Batters sucked in the Bangladeshi Team. They were intimidated by the pounding they received, in such short a time. The intent from India was palpable and though Bangladesh had been thinking about a draw for good, they suddenly found themselves at 26/2 at the end of  Day 4. Indian had moved the match at a frenetic pace unheard of before. Bangladesh were in a way caged so to say and had to bat out of their skins to draw the match.

Ashwin, Jadeja, and Bumrah Dominate Day 5 to Secure Victory For Indian Team

Day 5 was no different. Ashwin and Jadeja were brilliant as usual. Akashdeep once again impressed and Bumrah’s guile had no answers coming from the Bangladeshi batters. It was pure intimidation coupled with pedestrian batting which led to the batters’ eventual subjugation. The pressure was high and Bangladesh just gave it away. With just 95 needed, India completed the victory on a canter with a good one session to spare.

India’s Unmatched Determination and Mental Fortitude Shine Through

The performance was magnificent from India and what impressed me most was their formidable intent and their determination to win, even when,  a result appeared highly unlikely. This reflects the temperament and the mental fortitude of the team, hugely complimented by the skill sets they have, and the fitness they possess. I am unable to find a team like this across the world. The Australians might come close, but this Indian Team is a couple of notches ahead of them and firmly perched on the top of the heap.
