This is an amazing story of a lawyer who post graduated from King’s College London pursued further education in Paris and Florence and then settled for a job in London. It was a perfect recipe for a distinguished career and Louise Ross had already taken the first few steps in that direction. However there was something amiss and howsoever unusual it may sound, Louise inspite of being well entrenched in her career, was craving for something she loved , ‘ writing ‘.
Born and brought up in Northumberland, one of the most beautiful, sparsely populated counties in North East England and bordering Scotland, Louise was always in love with its enchanting country side. Lindisfarne also known as Holy Island was particularly one of her favourite places where she loved to be and once while travelling to Holy Island, Louise expecting her first child decided to take the plunge. She was itching to write and it was time to change. She quit her job and by the time her son was born, the first draft of her book Holy Island, the first in the series of suspense thrillers featuring DCI ( Detective Crime Inspector ) Ryan, was ready.
With Holy Island LJ Ross the author was born. Conventional Publishing was a tough ask and so LJ Ross decided to take the self-publishing route. The book was eventually released on Amazon’s Kindle through Kindle Publishing in January 2015 and the first 25 books or so were bought by friends and relatives.

Holy Island was exceptionally scripted as if done by a mature author. LJ Ross had penned down a remarkable product and the rest was handled by friends and relatives. They made the word of mouth marketing spread thick and fast and did not let it go off steam. The sales began to rise touching exponential proportions. The good product backed by simple but highly effective marketing was well on its way and by the time it was May, Holy Island had become the no.1 best seller in its category on Amazon in the UK.
The success led to the sequel to Holy Island which too reached the no.1 bestseller spot. LJ Ross had arrived and had already created a massive community of readers which were going to be loyal to her at all times. And all this had been achieved through Self Publishing on Amazon’s Kindle. LJ Ross’ success led to the coining of the word ‘Kindlepreneur’ and became an inspiration for self publishing entrepreneurs not only in UK but across the world.
LJ Ross has gone from strength to strength and her work has sold more than 7 million copies. Her conviction in her writing abilities, the support of her family and friends, the word of mouth marketing strategy and her strong belief in self publishing on Kindle were the architects of her tremendous success. She is known as the ‘Kindle Queen’ and unarguably fully deserves the crown.
The journey from Louise to LJ Ross is an exceptional story and an inspiration to many…including Riz Khan !
