Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is in stable condition in hospital after collapsing at the club’s training ground, and reports suggest he is slowly improving.
What Bayern Have Confirmed
Kompany collapsed on Friday during a training session for Bayern’s amateur side and was taken to hospital. Sporting director Max Eberl said his condition is stable, tests are continuing, and he will be absent for weeks. The club has not announced a diagnosis.

Encouraging Signs
The latest news is positive. Kompany watched Bayern’s 3-1 Bundesliga win at Freiburg from his hospital bed. Afterwards he messaged assistant coach Aaron Danks to say how pleased he was. Before kick-off, Danks said the feedback was very positive and that Kompany felt a little better, with further examinations still under way. Eberl called the result “the best medicine” for him.
Rest Is the Priority
BILD reports that Bayern have told visitors not to talk to Kompany about football, so he can focus on recovering. Club patron Uli Hoeneß was among those who visited him on Saturday.
Kompany had spoken publicly about feeling unwell before the collapse. After the midweek draw with Arsenal, he said he’d caught a nasty virus and hadn’t listened to his body. German media reports also say people around the club had long worried about how much he was working. Bayern have not linked any of this to the collapse, so it should not be read as a medical explanation.

Who Takes Charge
Danks will lead the team from the touchline until further notice. Bayern’s next match is the DFB-Pokal tie against Magdeburg on 28 October.
