Five points off the summit, one off the fourth, and the Serie A giants are starting to look over their shoulders.
Forget The “Ambitious Project” Label
Como 1907 are 5th in Serie A, and they’re getting there by winning matches the hard way. Cesc Fàbregas’ side have 14 points from 7 games (4 wins, 2 draws, 1 defeat). They’ve scored 12 and conceded 7. Only Inter and Lazio, both on 19, and Roma and Milan sit above them.

The road warriors
Como have won three times away from home: 2-1 at Napoli, 4-1 at Genoa and 3-1 at Fiorentina on Sunday. Plenty of teams in this league can’t win away from home. Como have done it three times already.
The Only Blip
A 2-0 loss at Frosinone on Sep 20 is the one stain on the record. They also held Roma to a 0-0 draw at home on Oct 11, a point that looks better with every week Roma stay near the top.

Now Comes The Real Test
The next three fixtures are Sassuolo at home (Oct 24), Torino away (Oct 28) and Venezia at home (Nov 1). Sassuolo are 13th, Torino 10th and Venezia bottom. Win all three and Como head into the trip to Inter on Nov 8 with 23 points, and rubbing shoulders with the Serie A giant.
Bookmakers see it too. Como are given about a 66% chance against Sassuolo this weekend.
RIZZSPORTS Verdict
A season ago, Como were the team everyone wanted to watch. This season, they’re the team nobody wants to face. Whether they can keep it up until May is the question, but right now Fàbregas has this side playing like a serious Serie A title contender.
