What Is Wound & Bandage About?
The story follows Gō Kiritani, a young yakuza lieutenant who belongs to the Kurotori Association, an organisation affiliated with the powerful Washizu Group. Gō receives an unusual assignment: he must look after Riyo Washizu, the daughter of the organisation’s boss. Initially, he assumes the job will be straightforward because Riyo appears to be a quiet, well-behaved girl.
However, Gō soon discovers that Riyo has a peculiar preference. She calls herself a yowara, a term she uses for someone who becomes excited by seeing strong people grow weak or vulnerable. This discovery turns their relationship into an awkward series of encounters. Gō is accustomed to being feared and respected, but Riyo’s behaviour challenges the image he has built as a formidable yakuza member.
The comedy develops through their contrasting personalities. Gō approaches his responsibilities seriously, while Riyo finds herself drawn to situations that leave him injured, exhausted, or otherwise less imposing. Despite the unusual premise, the story centres on the developing dynamic between the two characters, using their interactions to explore vulnerability, attraction, and the complications that arise when people struggle to understand each other.

- Gō Kiritani: Voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi, Gō is a yakuza lieutenant entrusted with protecting Riyo. His intimidating appearance and serious approach to his duties frequently clash with her unusual interests.

Which Studio Is Animating Wound & Bandage?
J.C.STAFF is producing the anime, with Miyuki Ishida directing the series. Susumu Yamakawa is handling the scripts, while Natsuki Oyama is responsible for character designs. The adaptation will need to balance romantic comedy with its unusual premise while preserving the personalities and expressions that make the manga distinctive.
With its January 2027 debut approaching, Wound & Bandage could appeal to viewers looking for a romance that steps outside familiar high school and workplace settings. Can Gō maintain his intimidating reputation while dealing with Riyo’s unusual fascination, or will looking after his boss’s daughter become his most difficult assignment yet?
