Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 arrives on Netflix on October 20, 2026, but it is not a direct continuation of David Martinez’s story. Here is what is confirmed about the release date, cast and plot.
Is It Really Season 2?
The new series is officially titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, yet it is a standalone story with a new crew in Night City. CD Projekt Red’s co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has described it as a different crew with a new standalone story. The original series premiered on Netflix on September 13, 2022, and its main story is complete.
Release Date and Format
The series arrives on October 20, 2026, exclusively on Netflix. It is described as a 10-episode production. Netflix had not confirmed an exact release time in the sources reviewed, so check your local listing closer to launch.
Who Is Making It?
CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger return, as they did for the first series. Kai Ikarashi directs, and Ichigo Kanno leads character design. The story comes from Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka, who also worked on the original story. The project was announced at Anime Expo in July 2025.
Cast and Characters
Four main characters have been confirmed:
- Weak Kingsley, a veteran edgerunner voiced by Clancy Brown.
- Talia Yang, a former corpo voiced by Kimoy Lee.
- D., a member of the Snake Nation, voiced by Nazeeh Tarsha.
- Roman Carax, a wannabe director voiced by Valeria Rodriguez.
What Is the Story About?
The official synopsis follows Weak, a washed-up cyberpunk legend who is now forced to live without chrome. He searches for purpose in a world that has moved on without him. Promotional material promises a rawer, more brutal take on Night City, with several lives becoming tangled together.
Should You Watch Season 1 First?
Not necessarily. Because the cast is new, the story should work on its own. Still, the first series sets the tone and shows what an edgerunner’s life costs. For more background, read our explainers on whether Edgerunners 2 is a direct sequel and its Season 1 connection.
