What Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 About?
The story follows several people whose lives become increasingly intertwined in Night City. One of the central figures is Weak, a former edgerunner legend who was once known as “King.” He has fallen from his former position and now has to live without chrome while searching for a sense of purpose. Another key character is D, a Snake Nation netrunner whose pursuit of revenge leads him toward corporate secrets that were never meant to be uncovered.
The story also follows Roman Carax, a young filmmaker interested in documenting real stories in a city where braindance has replaced much of traditional film, and Talia, who grew up around corporate wealth before becoming deeply influenced by Maelstrom’s violent, chrome-heavy culture. The official premise describes the series as a story about family, obsession, legacy, and the way people see the lives of those around them.

Who Are the Main Characters?
The new cast gives Edgerunners 2 a very different foundation from the first anime.
- Weak: Once known as “King,” Weak is a veteran edgerunner now living in the shadow of his former reputation. His struggle to find purpose appears to be one of the story’s central threads.
- D: A Snake Nation netrunner driven by revenge. D is searching for the person responsible for destroying his clan, a mission that brings him dangerously close to hidden corporate information.
- Roman Carax: A cinephile who wants to capture real stories through his camera. His fascination with documenting people puts him in a city where reality is considerably messier than anything he could create on film.
- Talia: Raised in corporate surroundings but later shaped by Maelstrom’s culture. She is described as fiercely independent and deeply familiar with the gang’s violent, chrome-focused way of life.
- Avida: A former jazz singer and corporate insider who was once romantically involved with Weak. She is now married to a Kang Tao executive and is the mother of Talia, creating another connection between the characters at the heart of the story.
The wider cast includes Sal, the owner of Sal Bigelow’s Braindance Paradise; Jessie, a braindance engineer; and corporate figures Kitano of Arasaka and Richard of Kang Tao.
How Is It Connected to Season 1?
The new anime returns to the same Night City setting and Cyberpunk universe, but it does not continue David Martinez and Lucy’s story. Instead, Edgerunners 2 uses a new cast to tell another story within the same world. That keeps the first season’s events important to the universe without making David and Lucy the focus of the new narrative. With a new crew and a fresh story waiting in Night City, can Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 make the same impact as the original?
