Julian Quinones’ Rise A Crucial Milestone
Julián Quiñones’ rise to prominence at Al-Qadsiah represents a crucial milestone in the evolution of the Saudi Pro League (SPL). His impact goes far beyond individual statistics, helping reshape the league’s recruitment model, competitive structure, and global credibility.
Proof of Concept for Prime-Age Signings
Defying the “Retirement League” Narrative: When Quiñones signed for Al-Qadsiah at age 27, he entered the league in his prime rather than near the end of his career.
Maintaining International Quality: Winning the 2025–26 Golden Boot with 33 goals and earning a nomination for the 2026 Ballon d’Or proved that players can perform at an elite world-class level while playing in Saudi Arabia.

Validation of Non-PIF Corporate Ownership
Breaking the “Big Four” Monopoly: Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquired controlling stakes in Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli. Al-Qadsiah, backed by oil giant Aramco, showed that clubs outside the PIF network can build championship-calibre squads.
Smart Investment Strategy: Investing in top talent from North and South America rather than focusing strictly on marquee European stars demonstrated a sustainable, highly effective scouting model.
Outperforming Established Global Superstars
Golden Boot Benchmark: Outscoring household names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mané proved that success in the SPL is driven by current form and tactical fit rather than name recognition alone.
Elevating Match Standards: His relentless pressing and athleticism raised the physical intensity across the league, forcing opposition defences to adapt.
A Big Plus For The League
Julian Quinones has lifted the Saudi League with some outstanding, credible performances, seething in international quality. No wonder his presence is a big plus for the Saudi League.
