Semenyo’s Back Heel Breaks Chelsea Hearts As Manchester City Win FA Cup

Semenyo scores as Manchester City beat Chelsea win FA Cup

The evening belonged to a scrappy Manchester City as the Pep Guardiola side managed to beat an excellent Chelsea at Wembley by a solitary Antoine Semenyo goal to lift their 8th FA Cup Title, making it their second trophy of the season.

The difference between the two teams boiled down to the brilliance of one man, Antoine Semenyo, who played an incredible back heel to guide an Erling Haaland pass into the Chelsea net, breaking the deadlock in the 71st minute.

Chelsea would be feeling aggrieved for sure. The Blues had played their best football in weeks and honestly were the better side today. It is just that Semenyo, who was the best player for Manchester City in the game, had a trick up his sleeve and made it count. Rayan Cherki’s introduction in place of Marmoush in the second half was also a critical substitution, which got some impetus into the game for City. Jeremy Doku too gave his best for City.

Enzo Fernandez and Joao Pedro both had great chances to score, but could not convert their good moves into anything substantial. There were periods of play where Chelsea dominated proceedings.

Manchester City hung on gamely with Rodri, Khusanov and Guehi blocking Chelsea’s efforts for an equaliser.  James Trafford, too, had a good game. Matheus Nunes came close to scoring for City, but his effort hit the woodwork.

It was a match which did not live up to expectations. It was not a free-flowing game, but more of a cagey affair. Eventually, Manchester City survived and lifted their second trophy of the season.

The Legend of Pep Guardiola just continues to grow.
