France’s 26-man Squad Announced For The FIFA World Cup
Manager Didier Deschamps announced France’s 26-man strong squad for the FIFA World Cup starting from the 11th of June in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America. Kylian Mbappe will lead a bunch of extremely talented players.
A Terrific Team in Place
France, winners in 2018 and runners-up in 2022, are one of the pre- tournament favourites, having a terrific team to counter any challenge thrown at them.
Les Blues Have A Tough Group
Les Blues are in Group I, along with Senegal, Iraq and Norway. It is one of the toughest groups. Norway, in particular have been brilliant in the qualifiers, staying undefeated, with two emphatic victories over Italy during their qualifying campaign. Senegal, who won the AFCON but were stripped of the title for indiscipline, are no pushovers either and can be tricky opponents for France. It is indeed a tough group and France will need all their stars to fire.
An Incredible Forward Line
France’s arsenal in the forward line is one of the strongest. Led by Kylian Mbappe, there is Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, the young Desire Doue, Rayan Cherki, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and, to top it all, the incredible Michael Olise. The quality of players is such that they can dismantle any defence with their skill and composure.
Midfield & Defence Look Good Too
The midfield looks good too, with Aurelian Tchouameni, Adrien Rabiot and N’Golo Kante called into service. The defence has been placed in the hands of Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate and William Saliba. Mike Maignan, Robbin Risser and Bruce Samba would don the gloves for France.
Camavinga, Thauvin Miss Out
There are also some notable omissions from the squad, particularly Lens winger Florian Thauvin, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and Tottenham’s Randal Kolo Muani, who could not make it to the squad.
Taking a holistic view, Didier Deschamps has put a terrific team forward which has what it takes to win the World Cup.
The Team:-
