Arsenal Make History
Mikel Arteta has guided Arsenal to their first Champions League Final in 20 years and only the second instance in the history of the Club. The North Londoners beat Atletico Madrid by a solitary goal at Emirates last night and qualified for the Final with a winning 2-1 aggregate.
Tense Match, But Over Hyped
It was a tense match at the Emirates, but it did not live up to the expectations as an extremely below-par Atletico Madrid did not rise up to the challenge and succumbed to just one goal by Bukayo Saka in the first half.
It Was Poor From Atletico
Arsenal’s defence was good, but the way Atletico played, I was more than surprised how on earth they got past Barcelona in the quarter finals. Barring a few moves early on, Julian Alvarez, Antoine Griezmann, Lookman and Simeone hardly threatened David Raya in Arsenal’s goal.
Listless From Diego Simeone’s Side
In the entire match of such massive proportions, Atletico’s star-studded line could manage only 5 shots with just 2 on goal and had just 2 corners to boot. The match will go down as one of the poorest under the fierce and passionate Diego Someone. Sadly, Griezmann would be leaving the club without a single piece of silverware, which is painful for the lovely player.
Kudos To Arsenal: The Only Unbeaten Side In The Champions League
Arsenal were sitting pretty after the first goal, and since the opposition did not show much zeal to compete, it was all good for the Gunners. They have been flawless in the Champions League, being the only unbeaten side this season and thoroughly deserved to be in the Finals to be played against the winner of the PSG-Bayern contest tonight.
Over To Budapest
The Finals will be held on the 30th of May at the Puskás Arena in Budapest.
A great day for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.
