The Herons Are Travelling To Utah
Inter Miami, the MLS defending champions, extended their unbeaten streak to 7 games after their remarkable victory up at Denver against the Colorado Rapids last week. Placed at no. 2 in the Eastern Conference, the Herons are travelling to Utah tonight.
Real Salt Lake Have A Fortress At Home
Real Salt Lake have made a tremendous start to the new season, and though they lost to Vancouver in the first match, the Clarets & Cobalts have been undefeated in the next 6 games. Their 4-2 victory against San Diego last Sunday at home is an indication of their strength playing at the American First Field, Sandy, Utah.
An Intriguing Battle On The Cards
Inter Miami and Real Salt Lake are both having a terrific run which makes the contest that more interesting. However, at home, RSL are extremely tough to beat, and it will be a challenge for Inter to get past the Clarets.
The Messi Factor
Lionel Messi is set to make his first-ever appearance in Utah. He is currently in blistering form with 7 goals in 7 league games, trailing only slightly in the Golden Boot race. His presence has made this the toughest ticket to get in RSL history, with the match sold out months in advance.
What To Expect
I am expecting an open, free-flowing game. Berterame and Messi, who is playing as well as ever, will be a handful for the Clarets. Though the absence of Sergio Reguilon and Yannick Bright may throw a few issues for the Herons. RSL have a good defence, and it will not be easy for Inter to breach the fortress so easily. In attack, RSL have Sergi Solans, who has already scored 5 this season with an assist too.
Inter Miami will surely start as favourites, but it is bound to be. A hard-fought draw might just be in the offing.
