The Roshn Saudi League is witnessing a tight triangular contest with just 10 games remaining. Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli Saudi and Al-Hilal are locked in an intense battle for the Saudi League Title.
All three teams won their matches this week, thus keeping up the pressure on each other. Al-Hilal fought hard and secured a thrilling 5-3 win over Al-Shabab and Al-Ahli scraped past Al-Riyadh with a solitary goal.
Al-Nassr under pressure to win, fell behind in the game last night against Al-Fayha in Al Majma’ah through an own goal, after Ronaldo missed a penalty early on. The ever reliant Sadio Mané equalised late in the second half. A thunder strike from Joao Felix resulted in an Al-Fayha own goal and then Alhamddan, who came in as a substitute for Ronaldo scored the third goal for Al-Nassr to register an emphatic 3-1 comeback win over Al-Fayha.
The win ensured Al-Nassr with 61 points atop the RSL, followed by Al-Ahli at 59 points and Al-Hilal, who not so long ago were leading the pack, placed third with 58 points.
The big news however, was an injury scare to Cristiano Ronaldo. The legend missed a penalty and did not look comfortable on the pitch, irritated and frustrated at times. Probably the missed penalty was all over his mind. Eventually Ronaldo walked off the pitch with a hamstring strain and watched from the dugout as his team completed the match against Al-Fayha.
Al-Nassr play Neom next, at the weekend. With every game of vital importance, the injury to Ronaldo would surely be a big concern for Manager Jorge Jesus, who in his first season as Manager of Al-Nassr has done a splendid job. The question is can his team hold on to the top spot, as the race for the title enters the final lap.
