Manchester United got the better of Crystal Palace last night with a massively important 2-1 victory, after trailing for a good 53 minutes at the Old Trafford.
The terrific win has uplifted Manchester United to third position on the EPL leaderboard, which a few weeks ago appeared completely out of bounds. Ruben Amorim was sacked in a major decision by the United owners and Michael Carrick was appointed as interim Manager for the rest of the season. The change has actually changed the fortunes of the Club and has brought in an incredible turnaround.
The last 7 games under Michael Carrick have witnessed 6 wins and a draw. Manchester United have garnered 19 points in the process, scoring 14 goals and conceding 6. All the victories have come in crunch games which has further vindicated the decision of appointing Michael Carrick.
Manchester United got past City in a terrific performance and won the much sought after Manchester derby. However the most crucial performance which gave great heart to United fans was their staggering 3-2 win over Arsenal. The Red Devils then beat Fulham, Tottenham, Everton and Crystal Palace and drew just a lone game against West Ham.
The team has suddenly but surely come to life. Benjamin Sesko, a player on which United banked on this season, but who had hardly delivered, has risen to the occasion under Michael Carrick. His performance has been a great plus for United.
Bruno Fernandes as usual has kept the faith of his club and became only the 3rd player in the past 40 years to score 100+ goals and provide 100+ assists for United. He has been a real cornerstone for his team. Not to forget Mbeumo’s massive contribution to the club. He has been their most productive striker this season.
The EPL title hopes look far fetched at the moment, but United may well be seen fighting for European glory in the UEFA Champions League next season.
