He was at the helm of Inter Milan for four successful years. A loss to PSG in the final of the Champions League last season triggered Simone Inzaghi’s exit, as he parted ways with Inter and inked a two year deal with Al-Hilal, for a whopping $50 million. In the process, the decorated Italian became the world’s highest-paid football Manager.
The expectations were high from Inzaghi. His tactical acumen was never in doubt, and his loads of experience both as a player and Manager added a lot of weight to his Resumé. With a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia and three Supercoppa Italiana trophies, Inzaghi had already made a name for himself as one of Italy’s most successful Managers.
After being appointed Manager on 4th June 2025, Inzaghi’s first game in charge of Al-Hilal was a tough one against Real Madrid at the FIFA Club World Cup. But the Azurri guided his team to a well deserved 1-1 draw and eventually Al-Hilal qualified for the knockouts.
Inzaghi, however, has been sublime in the Roshn Saudi League too, with Al-Hilal being the only team undefeated so far in the competition. With 20 games played, Al-Hilal have won 15 and drawn 5, in a staggering campaign under Inzaghi. With 50 points, Al-Hilal are perched on the top and though they are just one point ahead of Al-Nassr, the Blue Waves are looking good with loads of stability against a much troubled Al-Nassr.
With Karim Benzema scoring a hat trick in his debut for the Blue Waves, the move to get the Frenchman and Real Madrid star to Al-Hilal has been a great one. With the RSL poised at a delicate point, Inzaghi is pulling out all stops to ensure that Al-Hilal win the title, and the transfer of Karim Benzema was one such move towards the objective.
With all bases covered, Simone Inzaghi will make a strong push for the trophy. It will not be easy for the rest of the competition to topple Al-Hilal from its perch. Inzaghi is standing firmly in the way.
