The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has progressed to the knockouts with the last of the Group Stage games concluding last night.
The top 2 teams from each of the 6 groups and the 4 best 3rd-ranked teams have made it to the last 16 contests, which begin on the 3rd of January.
The following are the 16 Teams.
Group A: Morocco and Mali
Group B: Egypt and South Africa
Group C: Nigeria, Tunisia and Tanzania
Group D: Senegal, DR Congo and Benin
Group E: Algeria, Burkina Faso and Sudan
Group F: Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Mozambique.
Senegal, the Teranga Lions will take on Sudan in the first match of the Round of 16 at Tangiers on Saturday.
Later that night, Mali will face a tough test against Tunisia in Casablanca.
The match between South Africa and Cameroon on Sunday night in Rabat is billed to be one of the highlights of the Round of 16.
In the other matches, hosts and title favourites Morocco will take on Tanzania, Egypt will play Benin, Nigeria will lock horns with Mozambique, Algeria will face DR Congo in a very exciting clash, while Ivory Coast are drawn to meet Burkina Faso in the last match of the Round of 16 on Wednesday night.
The tournament is hotting up as the New Year ushers in.
