The Pharaohs Are Going To The USA as Egypt Qualify For The FIFA World Cup

Egypt became the third country from Africa to qualify for the FIFA World Cup ’26, following Morocco and Tunisia. This will be Egypt’s fourth trip to the World Cup after 1934, 1990 and 2018.

The Pharaohs got the better of Djibouti with an easy 3-0 win at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Morocco, last evening. The victory led Egypt to an unassailable lead at the top of Group A of the African qualifiers, thus confirming their participation in the World Cup to be played in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

The Egyptians were in fine form and were hardly troubled by Djibouti. Ibrahim Adel scored with a perfect header in the 8th minute to get Egypt going. Mo Salah, captaining the side and in some scratchy form of late, got his team the second goal with a clean finish from his majestic left foot in the 14th minute. Salah added the third in the 84th, with a classy scoop over Djibouti’s rushing goalkeeper. It was a great finish, made to look easy by the Magician from Nagrig.

Ultimately, it was an easy win for Egypt. Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Pharaohs, managed an excellent campaign to remain at the top and ahead of an impressive Burkina Faso in their group.

The former striker and Egypt’s all-time highest goal scorer ( 69 goals in 177 matches) for the National Team, Hossam, ensured a water-tight defence with an attacking mindset. In 9 games in the qualifiers, Egypt scored 19 goals, but conceded just 2, which goes to show how tough the Pharaohs have been to score against.

With qualification already secured, Egypt, still unbeaten, will take on Guinea-Bissau in Cairo on Sunday night in their 10th and final Group A game, which will be more of a celebration than a tense contest.

Mo Salah once again showed his calibre and experience and has been instrumental in guiding the Pharaohs to a well deserved trip to the USA, Canada and Mexico.
