They are scoring goals in heaps and winning matches with alarming ease. Sweeping past opposition with utter disdain and sheer authority. This is the aura of Bayern Munich, the Bavarian horde, which is driving football to another level, setting aside whatever is coming their way, and at the moment, there is no one good enough to challenge them.
The statistics are staggering. In the Bundesliga this season, Bayern have won all their 6 matches so far. The victories have not been mere wins, but audacious statements. They have scored 25 goals and conceded just 3. In the two games played by Bayern in the Champions League, 8 goals have been scored with just 2 conceded. On an average, Bayern is scoring 4 goals every match. Which, in my opinion, is a resounding number.
There is no guessing that Vincent Kompany has put together an amazing team, wherein it is difficult to find flaws at the moment. Harry Kane has been a goal-scoring machine, and there seems to be no let-up in his zeal to score. In the Bundesliga, he has already reached double figures with 11 goals in 6 games. A mighty effort indeed. Luis Diaz, the Colombian, transferred from Liverpool, has been an excellent foil to Kane and has already netted five times in the new season. With support from the extremely talented Olise and Gnabry, Bayern are strong up front.
The midfield, comprising of Goretzka and Kimmich, is both enterprising and strong-willed when it comes to attack and defence. The back line is a non-porous, impermeable wall of Laimer, Tah, Upamecano, Boey and the legendary goalkeeper Neur. The gritty defence has conceded just 3 goals in 6 games in the Bundesliga so far. The bench of Bayern is world-class too.
The way the team moves on the field and cuts through the defences of the opposition is a treat to watch. The pace is lively and the finishing exemplary. This could well be Bayern’s best chance to not only win the Bundesliga ( which appears to me a fairly foregone conclusion ), but lay their hands on the UEFA Champions League. The rampaging Bavarians could well end up with a treble this season.
Hopefully, in the process, the great Harry Kane wins his first and extremely deserving Ballon d’Or.
