Tottenham Hotspur made the most of a wasteful Manchester City to score a magnificent win at the Etihad by a good 2-0 margin.
Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha scored in the first half for Tottenham, and then the Spurs held on gamely as Manchester City struggled to get on the board.
It was disheartening for the fans to see their team go down after a superb away performance against Wolverhampton. Poor defending and being unable to latch on to opportunities cost the former Champions heavily. Young goalkeeper James Trafford was too nervous and had a bad day at the office.
A great win for Tottenham Hotspur, and they get their second win in as many games. What an occasion for Manager Thomas Frank, who has been nothing short of King Midas for the Spurs. His start to the season has been exceptional and augurs well for Tottenham who had a disastrous season last year. The wheel of fortune might just be turning.
Pep Guardiola must be very disappointed, along with the fans. Marmoush played well and looked threatening at times, but failed to convert a couple of good chances. Oscar Bobb was disappointing and so was the defence with Rico Lewis, Stones, and a bit out of form Ruben Dias. Erling Haaland had a quiet match, which was very detrimental to City’s chances.
It has to be said that Thomas Frank fared better with tactics as compared to Pep
Manchester City need to turn around quickly as they take on Brighton in an away game next week.
