India Breaks The Jinx, As Shubman, Akash Deep Rout England At Edgbaston

India Rout England At Edgbaston

England Pulverized By A Driven Shubman

India, led by a sensational Shubman Gill and an exceptional bowling effort from Akash Deep and Siraj, pulverized England and Bazball, grinding them to a massive 336-run pasting. It was India’s first victory at the venue in 19 test matches. The brave Indian Team broke the jinx by putting up an exceptional performance for the world to take note.

England Get It All Wrong

England got it all wrong. They had just survived the last test at Headingley and thought that they would come up trumps at Edgbaston as well. Preparing placid tracks to back their strong batting and thinking that they would buttress India with their inept and toothless bowling attack was playing with fire.

Indian Batters & Akash Deep Surprise Hosts

England burnt themselves badly, underestimating, first India’s batting capacity and then the quality of the bowling attack sans Bumrah. England were fooled by the great bowler’s absence and were completely surprised by the brilliance of Akash Deep and the steadfastness of Mohd Siraj.

An Unprecedented, Exceptional Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill’s performance was not only historical and record-breaking but gut-wrenching for the English. The hosts were left hapless spectators as Gill amassed a total of 430 runs individually ( 269 and 161 ). An unbelievable effort from the young Indian captain. It was exquisite from Gill, simply unparalleled.

Akash Deep & Siraj Take 17 Wickets In The Match

Akash Deep was the other hero for India. The unassuming bowler from Sasaram, Bihar, bowled with great heart and guile and became a nemesis for the top-order English Batters who struggled with his immaculate length and the one delivery that cut back with the seam. His 10-wicket haul was indeed a deciding factor in India’s victory. Siraj too bowled with a lot of intent and returned with 7 wickets in the match. None of the other bowlers could make an impression, which might just worry the Indian think tank.

A Historical Win For India As Lord’s Beckons

A tremendous and historical victory for India, a one to remember and savour for years to come. Shubman Gill won the POTM award for his exceptional performance. A great lift for the Indian team as the 3rd Test begins at Lord’s from the 10th of July.
