Ind vs Eng: 1st Test At Headingley
Shubhman Gill-led Indian Cricket Team will take on England at Headingley in the 1st Test of the 5-match series, starting 20th of June.
Indian Team in Preparatory Mode
The Indian Team has been in a preparatory mode in England with the series just about to begin. With the playing XI more or less finalised, the preparations while help fine-tune the adjustments required by both batters and bowlers in English conditions.
India At Headingley & Lots of History
The last Test match played at Headingley in 2021 was a tough one for India. England had won by an innings and 76 runs. However, India has good memories of the ground too. Winning in 1986 when the Kapil Dev-led Indian team recorded a terrific victory against the hosts by a massive 279 runs. Roger Binny and Maninder Singh were brilliant with the ball.
Some Great Memories
In 2002, India, under Sourav Ganguly, outclassed England by an innings and 46 runs. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav had recorded brilliant centuries. England, on the other hand, made to follow on, had succumbed to the guile of Anil Kumble.
Lots To Draw Inspiration From
Shubham Gill needs to draw inspiration from these two victories. In all India has played 7 tests at Headingley winning 2, losing 4, and a single draw. England, however, have not lost at Headingley since 2017.
Indians Have Their Hands Full
A young team with a rookie captain at the helm will have its hands full. India has to be wary of England and will need to get the best out of Shubham Gill, KL Rahul, Pant, Bumrah, and Siraj.
Ind vs Eng – My Probable XI is as follows :
Shubhman Gill (c),Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant, Ravinder Jadeja, Nitish Reddy, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Siraj, Prasidh Krishna.
