Rohit Sensational For MI
Rohit Sharma came good when it mattered for the umpteenth time in his cricketing career as he slammed a brilliant 81 off 50 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes to help MI amass a huge 228 in 20 overs. A target which GT failed to reach in New Chandigarh, falling short by 20 runs to be eliminated from the IPL Playoffs.
Sai’s Knock Goes In Vain
Sai Sudharsan continued his unbelievable saga of batting by posting yet another big score for GT. His marvellous 80 was a treat to watch as his sublime touch made opposition fielders mere spectators. His exquisite timing and ability to find the gaps was exceptional and had he survived for a few balls more, GT might have overhauled the target.
MI Bat Like Champions
MI are a dangerous team when it comes to knock outs and played like Champions, taking the opposition head on . Johnny Bairstow came in and struck the ball fluently and his vital innings gave the impetus to MI who never looked back. Surya Kumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya all played quick, effective cameos as GT bowlers struggled to keep the run rate in check. Surprisingly Prasidh Krishna was belted around and Gerald Coetzee had a bad day at the office, going for 51 runs in 3 overs.
GT Try Hard But Fail To Conquer GT ‘s Bowling
GT in their response lost Shubham Gill to Boult which was a major setback and when Kusal Mendis slipped for a hit wicket dismissal, GT were pushed back. Washington Sundar played well but was castled by a sensational Bumrah Yorker and once Gleeson got Sudharsan, the match was virtually over. Sherfane Rutherford threatened for a while but the ask was monumental and GT eventually succumbed.
Brilliant Bumrah And His Telling Yorkers
MI prized out an important win. Jasprit Bumrah and Ashwani Kumar were the stand out bowlers. It was a terrific all round performance from MI. Rohit deservedly got the POTM award.
GT Slip At The Wrong Time
A bit of a slip in their last two matches eventually cost GT dear as they missed out on a clear shot at the title. However, their performance right throw the tournament was something to remember and the players went out with their heads held high.
MI Face Punjab Next
MI would be required to quell the challenge from Punjab Kings on the 1st of June to set up a blockbuster Final with arch rivals RCB at Ahmedabad.
