Heinrich Klaasen produced one of the finest innings of this year’s IPL. An effort so reminiscent of his quality and stature, especially in white ball cricket. The brilliant South African made KKR bowlers look worse than pedestrian as he belted them with spectacular ease. In the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad ( SRH) recorded a massive 110-run victory over the hapless Kolkata Knight Riders at Delhi last night.
SRH Score A Monumental 278 in 20 Overs
SRH scored a monumental 278 runs in 20 overs, the foundation of which was once again set up by the belligerent duo of southpaw swashbucklers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, with a dominating opening partnership of 92. Travis Head continued with his merry ways after Abhishek’s exit, scoring 76 in just 40 balls.
Sensational Klaasen Plunders KKR Bowlers, Breaks Records
Post Travis Head, it was all Heinrich Klaasen. The Pretorian was breathtaking in his effortless decimation of the KKR bowlers. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy were given a real pasting as Klaasen pulled with disdain on anything short or played down the ground with telling candour. Klaasen, easily one of the finest pullers the game has seen, plundered all and sundry. With the help of 7 fours and 9 sixes, he reached his hundred of just 37 balls, the highest for a SRH batter and the joint 3rd highest in IPL history.
KKR Capitulate Under The Weight Of The Target
SRH with such a huge score had already gobbled up the match, and though KKR would have been thinking of chasing it down, they fell awfully short of the target. Unadkat, Malinga, and the impressive Harsh Dubey picked up 3 wickets each to tame KKR and help SRH to a terrific 110-run victory.
SRH Come Good In The End But Disappoint Overall
The Orange Army led by Pat Cummins, came good at the end and posted 3 impressive victories on the trot. However, taking a holistic view and the potential of the players, this season would go down as a disappointment for the Hyderabadis, who were considered to be one of the most dangerous teams and title contenders.
