Liverpool Crowned EPL 24/25 Champions
Mo Salah’s Liverpool were crowned English Premier League Champions for 2024/25 at a glittering ceremony at Anfield, Liverpool’s home, on Sunday, after their final league game against Crystal Palace. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Liverpool equalising in the 84th minute through none other than Mo Salah, who, befittingly, netted Liverpool’s last goal of the season and, in a way, saved Liverpool the blushes.
Salah Wins The Golden Boot & Playmaker Award
Salah’s shot from close range was his 29th goal in the EPL 24/25, which earned him the top perch on the list of goal scorers and won him the Golden Boot award. The Playmaker award given to the player with the maximum assists, also went to the Egyptian. With 18 assists, Salah was well ahead of the field.
Salah Does It Twice
It is the second occasion that Salah has won both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award in the same year. He had achieved the feat for the first time in 2021/22, scoring 25 goals and making 13 assists. Only one other player has held both awards in the same year. Harry Kane did it in 2020/21 for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Egyptian Creates History, Wins Player Of The Season Too
Mo Salah was also awarded the EA SPORTS Player of the Season Award, thus becoming the first player in the history of EPL to hold the Golden Boot, The Playmaker, and The Player of the Season Award in the same season. An incredible achievement by an incredible player.
Mo’s Staggering Numbers
The statistics speak for themselves. Liverpool scored 86 goals in the Premier League this season, the highest by any team. Of these 86 goals, Mo Salah was directly or indirectly involved in 47 of them, which is a staggering number. In a way, Mo Salah was responsible for almost 55℅ of the goals scored by Liverpool. The impact of Mo Salah has been extremely profound and though Football is a team sport, the North African has made a telling individual contribution to his Club’s success this season.
The Guile And Skill Of Salah
The skill, speed, and guile of Salah, his ability to make deft passes, his great reading of the field in play, and of course his sensational faculty to score, make him a special player. His left foot has been the scourge for many a team. Mo has been an unstoppable force in English Football and has already etched his name amongst the greats to have played in England.
Ballon d’Or Awaits
Liverpool, though, missed out on the Champions League, Mo Salah would still be a strong contender for the coveted Ballon d’Or. We shall find out.
