Inter & Napoli Locked In A Fierce Battle In Serie A
It cannot get more interesting than the Serie A. And if you are a football fan, the Italian Premier League, as one may call it, is the one to watch out for. With just 5 games remaining, the Serie A is heading towards a dramatic finish. Even after 33 matches, there are still a host of possibilities with three contenders vying for the title.
Inter Has Been Impressive So Far…
Defending Champions Inter Milan are holding the top position after 33 games with 71 points, having won 21 games, drawn 8, and lost 4. They have scored an impressive 72 goals and have conceded 32 for a positive goal difference of 40. However, their loss to Bologna from a Riccardo Orsolini strike in stoppage time at the Renato Dall’Ara has allowed second-placed Napoli to catch up with Inter. The Italian giants have a tough opponent in Roma this weekend, which they need to win. The match shall be held at the San Siro giving Inter the edge.
… And So Have Been Napoli
Napoli, on the other hand, has identical stats to Inter. They have played, won, drawn, and lost an identical number of games, thus having the same points as Inter. However, they have a poorer Goal difference, which has allowed Inter to hold the top spot at the moment. Their recent form has been good, and they have been unbeaten in their last 5 games, though they scraped past relegation-bound Monza with a solitary goal last week. Napoli play Torino next this weekend at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, their home ground. A win here shall keep the pot boiling.
Atalanta Waiting In The Wings – The Dark Horse
Atalanta, with 64 points, are 3rd on the Leaderboard, and though they are 7 points adrift of both Inter and Napoli, they are still in with a chance. They need to win all their remaining 5 matches and hope for a slip-up from Inter and Napoli. Sport has seen exceptional things happen, and who knows, Atalanta might just slip into top spot at the end.
Lautaro Martinez To Make It Count For Inter
Inter, however, look the most likely of the 3 sides to go through and defend their crown simply on the basis of how they have performed this year. The Champions League semi-final against Barcelona may be a distraction of sorts, but still, they have enough artillery to defend their Serie A crown. Lautaro Martinez, the Argentinian has been sensational for Inter this season, and the Nerazzurri would be looking up to him to deliver his best at the last.
We are in for a Finish Line Spectacle in the Serie A.
