Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
This meeting with a stranger happened about 19 years ago. I had just taken up a new posting after my promotion and was travelling to my home in the weekend by train.
I happened to come across an officer working with a renowned retailing and FMCG company travelling in the same compartment with me. After the initial introductions, our discussion digressed into the knitty gritties of retail business.
The person was thorough in his field of work and literally gave me a lesson on retailing and how retail business is carried out. His clarity of thought and strong fundamentals helped me gain huge insight into retail and how I could make a difference in my field of retail banking.
The chance encounter with this gentleman helped me a long way in my career as a retail banker. It strengthened my basics along with giving me a deep insight into the area I was looking into.
A memorable positive encounter indeed.
Some meetings don’t ask for permission. They just walk into our lives like a surprise guest who ends up changing the furniture in our minds.
That train wasn’t just moving through stations—it was carrying a small classroom on wheels. One teacher, one student, no chalk, no blackboard—just two minds passing wisdom like passing salt at dinner. It’s strange how real learning doesn’t always happen in big lecture halls. Sometimes, it happens between two train seats and a cup of tea.
This story shows how knowledge travels silently. It doesn’t knock or shout. It simply sits beside us, speaks a few clear words, and leaves a lasting echo in the way we think.
Brilliantly explained. Really appreciate
