Liverpool Pin Down Lille, Stay Atop Europe

Liverpool Beat Lille

Office As Usual For The Reds

It was office as usual for Arne Slot’s Liverpool, probably playing the best football in Europe this season. The Reds invited Lille from France and sent them packing with a 2-1 win. With 7 wins in 7 games Liverpool are undefeated in the UEFA Champions League and have qualified for the play-offs already.

Sublime Mo Salah

Mo Salah scored his 22nd goal in all competitions. In the 34th minute, Salah got a lovely pass across the field, controlled it beautifully and let go an immaculate curling left footer around Lille’s charging keeper. It was a brilliant finish from the Egyptian star. Liverpool were ahead but not for long.

Lille Equalise

Lille have been performing well in Europe and kept on persisting with their moves and were eventually rewarded. The danger for The Reds was there, as they could have closed out the game but missed a few chances. But Lille were not missing any and scored when David put the ball in Liverpool ‘s net from close range in the 62nd minute.

Elliott Wins It For Liverpool

Harvey Elliott then scored 5 minutes later and sealed the match for Liverpool. Lille were kept at bay by the Reds for the rest of the match. It was an encore at Anfield, a night of victory enjoyed by the fans.

The Reds Stay On Top

Liverpool became the only team to win all 7 games in the Champions League this season and stay on top of the table leading Barcelona by a good 3 points.
