A Tough Assignment For Liverpool
It was to be a tough assignment as Team Liverpool travelled to London to face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Match Day 22 of the EPL. The leaders in the Premier League Table had drawn their last two games and were searching for a victory to boost their title run this season.
Some Late Drama
The match turned out the way it was expected. A tough contest between two good sides which ended with a dramatic finish from none other than Darwin Nunez, the under fire striker from Uruguay, with critics clamouring for his exit.
An Inspired Substitution From Arne Slot Breaks The Deadlock
Brentford’s prolific Mbuemo and Wissa threatened the Liverpool goal but were kept at bay by a much improved performance from the Liverpool defense. The stars in the Liverpool side too were unable to breakthrough a spirited Brentford back line. The match was culminating in another draw for the Reds but again an inspired substitution from Arne Slot, proved the difference.
A Sublime Nunez Powers Liverpool
Nunez struck twice in stoppage time, with clean and sublime efforts. There were no half measures as Nunez positioned himself beautifully inside the Brentford box and unleashed two immaculate strikes ( both fairly similar ) to earn Liverpool 3 vital points. Liverpool had stung the bees instead. Brentford’s stoic resistance had been broken. Trent Alexander Arnold and Robertson also made their contributions in lead up to the two goals.
Critics Answered
It was Darwin’s evening as he answered his critics with an extremely vital performance and that too in the nick of time.
