Inconsistent Tottenham
The consistently inconsistent Tottenham Hotspur are slated to host Newcastle United a few hours from now in a highly anticipated English Premier League clash.
Unusual From The Spurs
Tottenham who have been blowing hot and cold all season are struggling in 11th position their worst return in mid-season since 2008. It has been an unusual performance from the Spurs and the string of injuries have further added to their woes this season. However a look at their statistics might lead to some clarity.
Brilliant Scoring, Poor Defense
The Ange Postecoglou managed Team have been brilliant with their goal scoring abilities having put the ball in the net 41 times, second only to league leaders Liverpool. However, their defence has been as porous as one could imagine with 28 goals conceded already this season. No wonder they have lost 9 games. The scoring too has been inconsistent with goals coming in bunches rather than in a continuous stream. The goal keeping after the injury to Guglielmo Vicario has been pathetic with Fraser Foster making more errors than saves. All of this has resulted in Tottenham losing more than winning. The hosts have won just one of their last 5 premier league games, lost three and drawn one. May be it is time to bring on Brandon Austin under the cross bar.

High Flying Newcastle
Newcastle have been flying high with 4 consecutive wins from their last 5 games with goals galore. Alexander Isak with 12 goals in the EPL this season so far is in sublime form, ably supported by the brilliant Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy. Eddie Howe, Newcastle’s Manager is making waves with an attacking mindset and tactical shrewdness.
Tottenham’s Postecoglou Under Huge Pressure
Under pressure Postecoglou will be well aware of the rampaging trio of Newcastle and his very own problems with the defence ( conceding a goal in the 87th to Wolves a few days ago would still be hurting) . The back line will be under constant stress from Isak, Gordon and Murphy. The best way to go about it, would be to score early and be relentless. Son, Solanke, Kulusevski backed by Bentancur and Bissouma have a big role to play for Spurs.
Though Newcastle United are in top form I still give Tottenham the edge at home. We may witness some breathtaking, pacy football and a 2-2 draw.
We will find out in a couple of hours.
