Day 2 At Gabba
With just over 13 overs bowled on the first day, the day 2 of the Brisbane Test at the Gabba promised some riveting cricket. The sun was out and so was the simmering rivalry between India and Australia.
Bumrah Removes Khawaja & McSweeny
Jasprit Bumrah, by far the best bowler in the world at the moment, struck twice to get rid of Usman Khawaja ( having an extremely poor series so far ) and Nathan McSweeney ( he has not impressed me, whatever the Australians might say) in quick succession. With lines so immaculate and lengths so precise Bumrah never falters.
Marnus Departs Cheaply But Travis Arrives
Marnus Labuschagne, who too has been struggling with many clamouring for his head, failed to press his case forward and perished playing a loose shot to an over pitched delivery from Nitish Reddy in front of his home crowd. Marnus was replaced by Travis, the Indian nemesis and though at 75/3 it looked that India might surge ahead, the match turned on its head as India were put on a leather hunt.
Travis Head Punishes Indian Attack
As the new call began to soften, Travis Head punished the Indian bowlers with utter disdain. He cut, punched, pulled and drove with elan as India began to feel the pressure of another Travis attack. With focus on Travis Head, Steve Smith continued to grind and started to gain in confidence as the partnership progressed.

Head & Smith Get Tons
Jadeja playing his first game of the series, was completely ineffective as Head and Smith dealt him with ease. Soon Head got to his second century of the series and sooner than later Smith too notched up the 33rd test century of his career.
Rohit Takes The New Ball & Calls For Bumrah
With shoulders falling and no new ideas up his sleeve Rohit Sharma took the new ball the moment it was due and put all his trust in the hands of the mercurial Bumrah, who yet again did not disappoint.
Mercurial Bumrah Responds Takes Fifer
Bumrah broke the 242 run stand as Smith perished in the slips of a false shot. Then the champion bowler had Mitch Marsh caught in the slips and then in the same over had Travis Head caught behind. 3 quick wickets and it so appeared that India was back in the game.

Alex Carey & Starc Take Australia to 405/7 At Stumps
Siraj finally got a wicket of Cummins caught by Pant and Australians were 7 down. But yet again Alex Carey and Mitch Starc stitched an unbeaten 50 run stand to ensure that Australia reached 405/7 at Stumps on Day 2.
A Remarkable Day Indeed
A remarkable day for Australia and had it not been for Bumrah’s Fifer , India would have struggled further. The progress of the match depends on the weather as more rain is forecast for tomorrow. If the rain stays away, there is some absorbing cricket expected from the Champion sides.
