For the first time in 10 years Manchester City have lost two back to back away games in the UEFA Champions League. First losing to Sporting in Lisbon and then going down to Juventus 0-2 in Turin last night. With just one win in 10 games in all competitions, the cascading fall for Manchester City is not abating.
It was not happening for Manchester City at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, the home to Juventus. Pep Guardiola’s boys kept possession for a good 69% of the time, but just could not score. Erling Haaland was closest to scoring but Gregorio denied the Norwegian with a great save. A nervy Ederson in goal let one slip and Juventus were ahead in the second half from a Dasun Vlahovic header. Vlahovic in between two defenders managed to score speaks about the perils of a weak City defence. The goal triggered several moves from City , but none could fetch a goal. A fine shot from Gundogan was denied again by a brilliant Gregorio who played his heart out. Jack Grealish and Bernardo Dilva too came close to scoring, but it was not to be.
Erling Haaland, who had been scoring freely for a few years now, was completely off colour. His loss in form has severely dented City’s fortunes, would be an understatement. Jeremy Doku, too did not impress.

There was intent on display by Manchester City, but their lack of confidence in scoring and breaking down the opponents defences, proved their undoing yet again. Juventus defended brilliantly and despite not holding much possession ( just 32% ), still managed to win. Indeed a great performance from the Italians.
Manchester City’s woes are not coming to an end. This is the same team which has dominated European and World Football. How fortunes change cannot be explained.
